Our core team
Commercial and contract judgement, buyer-side negotiation with Chinese manufacturers, and professional interpreting and translation. Three disciplines that rarely sit in one team.
These are our core members, the people you brief and hear from. Beyond them, we work with trusted partner interpreters and translators across China, matched to the language and subject of each assignment.
What the team brings to a matter
Commercial advice and contracts
What a deal or contract means for your business: price and payment, performance and acceptance, exclusivity and term, and where the Chinese and English versions differ.
Negotiation
Written targets and walk-away points before the first meeting, negotiation in Mandarin within your instructions, and every concession confirmed.
Interpreting and translation
Interpreters matched to each meeting, negotiation and exhibition, certified translation you can sign against, and other languages on request through partner interpreters.
Market entry and company setup
The options for entering China with what each costs and commits you to, then company setup coordinated through to tax registration.

Yimi is a business consultancy holding a Chinese business-consulting licence, not a law firm. Anna does not act as your lawyer, and nothing we produce is legal advice. Her legal training is why our commercial advice is careful about detail and wording. It is not a service we sell.
Anna read economics in China and law in Australia, where she was admitted as a legal practitioner. Her professional work has centred on cross-border commercial contracts and dispute resolution for clients in Australia, China and other regions, including high-value contract disputes in the automotive, technology, finance and consumer-products sectors.
That experience is why Yimi China reads a deal for what it will mean once production starts: price and payment structure, performance and acceptance, exclusivity and term, and the places where the Chinese and English versions say different things.

Jai Kumar
Senior Consultant, Supplier Negotiation
- Background
- 15+ years of procurement and supplier negotiation with Chinese manufacturers

- Technology products and industrial machinery
- jai.kumar@yimichina.com
Jai has spent more than fifteen years in procurement and supplier negotiation with Chinese manufacturers, across technology products and industrial machinery. He knows how a Chinese quotation is built (materials, labour, tooling and margin) and where there is room to move.
Our clients choose and assess their own suppliers. Jai then helps them get better terms from those suppliers: a price that reflects what the product really costs to make, workable MOQ and tooling arrangements, and the warranty, spare-parts and payment terms a buyer should ask for.
Experience
- Price and cost-breakdown negotiation
- MOQ, sampling and tooling terms
- Warranty, spare parts and after-sales support
